How to Change a Fuel Filter

Changing the fuel filter in your car will help improve your performance and gas. And now a few days with high gas prices, we all want that.

First step is to locate the fuel filter on your car. It is usually located near the gas tank.

Next you will want to raise the vehicle if you are unable to get to it otherwise. Raise the hood and disconnect the negative post on the battery.

After that you will need to release the gas pressure on your vehicle. This can be done by removing the gas cap to the gas tank (where you fill your tank).

After this you use tools (on some) to loosen the filter holder so you can remove it after loosening the fuel lines.

Now you will loosen the fuel line, this can be done by a wrench for some and undoing the clips of others. Please pay attention to which direction the fuel filter is on, that is how you install the new one.

Now that you have remove fuel lines and holder, you will remove the fuel filter and replace it with a new in reverse order.
